Offshore Navigator Update This download will update all previous versions of Offshore Navigator to version 5.08. We are proud to provide this free software update to all of our Offshore Navigator customers who have version 5.0 or later. What's New... The major new features include support for many Garmin GPS units. Please note that a separate download is required for Garmin USB GPS support. What's Fixed... Due to a programming oversight, Tides and Currents supplied by the British Admiralty were not displaying in 2006; this issue has been corrected in version 5.08. Secondly, this release corrects an instance where the application can fail unexpectedly while receiving satellite status info from NMEA GPS units. It also corrects problems loading and displaying certain charts created by NDI, the producer of Canadian nautical charts. Finally, there are many minor fixes and improvements that increase the reliability and usability of the application. Note: Customers who do not have British Admiralty tide information for 2007 will need to contact our UK Distributor for updated tidal information. This download patch does not add 2007 BA Tides to existing installations - it enables the use of the 2007 data. What's Included... As a special bonus to our domestic US customers, Offshore Navigator 5.08 also includes updated Tides and Current data for 2007 and 2008. This release also addresses problems that can occur when displaying certain tide stations. English-Language Editions ONLY Please note that this update is NOT for use with the non-English language editions of Offshore Navigator (French, German, Italian, or Spanish.) Please contact the Maptech distributor in your country for the 5.07d update in that language. Rebuilding The List In some cases, you may need to "Rebuild" your chart list in order to activate your charts, or to take advantage of corrected tidal displays. If you are missing charts, or can not view tidal information after you have installed this update, open the Chart List, select Advanced Chart Management, and press Rebuild. Additional Updates for Specific GPS Units In addition to this patch, there are a whole family of Garmin USB GPS units that are now compatible with this Navigation software. Click here for more details. Microsoft Windows Vista Unlike previous editions, Offshore Navigator 5.08 will install and operate under Microsoft Windows Vista. However, it is not fully "Vista Compatible" - that is, it was not designed to use all of the features and requirements imposed by the new operating system. For example, the Tide and Currents documents (containing the tables, not the dynamic graphs) as well as the Coast Pilot pages and Light Lists are in a ".hlp" format that has been discontinued by Microsoft. In most instances, your web browser will ask if the file should be Opened, or Saved to your computer. Choose Save, then select a location to Save the downloaded file In. If you are unfamiliar with downloading and applying software patches, we recommend choosing your "Desktop"; select Save In, Desktop and press Save. Once the download completes, double-click the downloaded application that appears on your Desktop. This will apply the download to your Maptech installation. Once that process is completed, you may run your Maptech application and (once working) delete the download from your Desktop. Please note: Do NOT save this update in the same folder as your existing Maptech application. Doing so will corrupt your installation, requiring a complete re-install to correct. The CD edition can be used to update early (pre-5.0) versions of Offshore Navigator and Cruising Navigator.
