TOPIC
Electronics Hookup and Configuration: Multiple Devices (AIS, GPS, etc.)
DISCUSSION
Can NMEA data, such as AIS and GPS be input through a single USB port or does one need a multiplexer to combine the AIS and GPS data input to a single USB (or COM) port on the computer? Chart Navigator Pro is very flexible in this regard - it will accept data from any input connected to the computer. AIS should be run at 38400 baud - either directly into the PC, or combined with a GPS though a properly-rated multiplexer. The GPS connection can be through a dedicated COM port, or combined with the AIS. Regardless of the connection method used, Chart Navigator Pro will work fine with the other electronics.
