Maptech is pleased to announce the availability of version 5.1 of Pocket Navigator. This new release includes a number of new features and compatibility improvements that we hope you will enjoy.
Here are some of the things that are new in Pocket Navigator 5.0:
Pocket Navigator Desktop allows you to print portions of maps with or without overlays.
Download charts from the internet.
You can now download free official NOAA charts from Maptech's chart download site, www.freeboatingcharts.com.
Pocket Navigator can now be used on your Smartphone.
More options in Overlay Properties window.
Choose your own color and line width for routes, tracks and velocity vector, draw radius circles around marks and GPS position icons,
More flexible Data Window options.
In addition to providing distance and bearing to your destination, Pocket Navigator has several new options for data including ETA to next waypoint, time to next waypoint, and distance to the end of a route.
GPS demo mode.
Allows you to simulate travel along a track as though a GPS is connected.
Full Screen Mode.
Hide the toolbar and the Taskbar on your PDA to maximize the visible map area.
More flexible track options.
Join two segments of a split track, reduce points, and smooth velocity spikes.
Use your own waypoint/mark icons on maps.
Import your own icons to use as waypoint and mark symbols.
Aerial photo viewing.
Send aerial photos from Terrain Navigator Pro to your mobile device.
Microsoft ActiveSync 4.2 Required
Please note that version 4.2 (or later) of Microsoft ActiveSync is required in order to install this update. Without this update to ActiveSync, Pocket Navigator will be unable to be transferred to your PDA. You can download version 4.2 of ActiveSync at:
How To Install
Click the link below. In most instances, your web browser will ask if the file should be Opened, or Saved to your computer. Choose Save, then select a location to Save the downloaded file In. If you are unfamiliar with downloading and applying software patches, we recommend choosing your "Desktop"; select Save In, Desktop and press Save. Once the download completes, double-click the "pknupdte.exe" icon that appears on your Windows Desktop. This will install Pocket Navigator Desktop. Once that process is completed, you may run your Maptech application and delete the download from your Windows Desktop.
After you have updated Pocket Navigator Desktop, it is necessary to update Pocket Navigator on your PDA. To do this, start Pocket Navigator Desktop and choose "Install Pocket Navigator" from the "Windows Mobile" menu to transfer this update to your handheld PDA.
