Error on Illegal File Name on Tides & Currents after installing 2012 data

DISCUSSION

After installing 2012 Tides & Currents into Offshore Navigator, Offshore Navigator Lite, or Chart Navigator (Viewer) if error messages come up referring to "Illegal File Names" on Reg2 (US East Coast) & Reg15 (US West Coast) files,
typically it is due to Virus Protection blocking a new required .dll file from being copied over to the Maptech software folder.

In order to correct this one of two things will need to be done:

1) Without uninstalling anything, disable your Virus Protection, and reinstall the disc that is providing you with the 2012 Tides & Currents.
2012 Tides & Currents are supplied on either an Offshore Navigator Installer Disc v5.08E, Chart Navigator Pro 2.0 Installer Disc, A US Boating Charts DVD w/ Tides & Currents Ed 5.16, Ed 5.2, or the 2012 Tides & Currents disc (Ed. 4.9)

or

2) With all Maptech software closed,
insert the disc that is providing you with the 2012 Tides & Currents, Explore the disc's files in Windows Explorer, and manually copy over the required new .dll file.

* If you have Offshore Navigator Installer Disc v5.08E, or the 2012 Tides & Currents disc (Ed. 4.9), you will need to look on the root of the disc and find the file "tcdll.dll".
Right click it and choose Copy.
Browse to the directory C:\Program Files\Maptech\Offshore Navigator - or- C:\Program Files\Maptech\Offshore Navigator Lite - or- C:\Program Files\Maptech\Chart Navigator
(whichever folder is appropriate to the software you have) and Paste the copied file in here.

If asked if you want to overwrite an existing file named tcdll.dll, choose YES.

Close all the open windows, remove the disc, and restart the Maptech software.
You should no longer get those error messages, and the Tides & Currents should appear on your charts.

*If you are not getting the errors any longer, but the tides & currents are still not visible,
Please click the Charts menu, Charts List, Advanced Chart Management tab, then click the Rebuild button. This will cause the Tides cache to be cleared and rebuilt.

* If you have the US Boating Charts DVD W/ Tides & Currents Ed 5.16 or 5.2,
the file "tcdll.dll" will be found in the folder Application.
It will need to be copied to the directory C:\Program Files\Maptech\Offshore Navigator - or- C:\Program Files\Maptech\Offshore Navigator Lite - or- C:\Program Files\Maptech\Chart Navigator
(whichever folder is appropriate to the software you have)

If asked if you want to overwrite an existing file named tcdll.dll, choose YES.

Close all the open windows, remove the disc, and restart the Maptech software.
You should no longer get those error messages, and the Tides & Currents should appear on your charts.

*If you are not getting the errors any longer, but the tides & currents are still not visible,
Please click the Charts menu, Charts List, Advanced Chart Management tab, then click the Rebuild button. This will cause the Tides cache to be cleared and rebuilt.
