Just installed the Marine Navagator on my desk top then lap top. I really love the product! I have a problem on the lap top when linked to a contour chart. The contour chart display quality is very, very poor. It is so bad that I thought the chart was all black. The nav display is perfect. Tried changing the color display settings from 16 to 24 then 32 bit with the same results.
Any suggestions? Lap top is a few years old and is slightly better than the min req and is adequate otherwisw.

I edited your post, just so that it was clearer that you had resolved the problem.

If I were to guess, you were running initially at 256 colors, which will cause the contour display to appear as you described. Once you changed the settings (and rebooted) to a greater color configuration, it was fixed.

Had the problem persisted, I would have recommended video drivers, etc.
