Chart Navigator Pro & Chart Navigator Light: General: Chart Navigator Light: Application Discussion: Using GPS units that are not in the GPS menu on 5.08
I recently bought an iGPS external module but the wizard in CNL does not work (grayed out) and I can't find any of the "standard" GPS units offered in the setup menu that will work. I uninstalled CNL 5.08 and reinstalled it (after rebooting) and still nada. The iGPS comes with some software so I do know that it does work (Serial Port 4, 9600 baud, 8N1). The software with the iGPS unit tells me that there is no Maptech installed. Maptech can't see it. Is there some way to install a non-standard GPS?
According to the version number you provided, it sounds like you have Chart Navigator, not Chart Navigator Light. Chart Navigator does not have a real time positioning feature. You can only use it to transfer waypoints, routes, and tracks between a handheld GPS and the Chart Navigator program. That is the reason the GPS wizard menu is grayed out.
