I just purchased a new Sea Ray with Navigator and Raymarine RL80CRC installed. My last boat had the RL80CRC also so I have many routes saved on a user chip that I have installed on my new boat. Is it possible for these routes (or an active route being followed) to be displayed and or saved onto the Navigator? I would love to somehow get all of my routes over to the Navigator and start using that as my primary system. On my old boat I could copy routes/waypoints to and from other equipment (like gps). Is it possible with this setup or are these 2 completely independent? (I believe either one can command the autopilot so somehow it sounds like everything is connected to each other).

Thanks in advance, -Bill

Independence.

At this time, Sea Ray Navigator functions independently from the Raymarine system (although they both are connected to the AutoPilot). Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer your existing routes from the Raymarine plotter to Sea Ray Navigator.

Best of luck with your new Sea Ray!

Thanks Ed. I have written software on my home computer that allows me to translate routes from my C-Map user chip to the Chart Navigator on my home computer (and vise-versa). It works great! I know the Sea Ray Navigator has the USB port. Do you think it is possible to use a USB memory stick (which will just act like another drive when plugged in) and direct navigator to save routes to that drive? If so, then maybe I could convert my C-Map routes to that format, copy then to a USB memory stick (drive), attach it to my navigator and read them in that way.

I know I am grasping at straws here but it seems like there must be a way to do this. I am a programmer so if there is a way I am capable of writing code to translate between different formats. I have already written several programs for translating between many different formats. I just don't know how to get stuff in/out of the Sea Ray Navigator. But it does seem like it is just a Windows based computer so it should be possible. Several people I have spoken to who just got a new boat have both the RL80CRC AND the Navigator installed so it would seem like these questions will become more frequent at some point. Any guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
-Bill

Sorry, still won't work

While you are correct in stating that the Sea Ray Navigator machine is basically a custom Windows computer, the Sea Ray Navigator software was developed entirely independently from Chart Navigator. Therefore, there is no common data format between the two applications.

If we had a formal spec on the file format used by Sea Ray Navigator I would be happy to provide it to you. Alas, we do not. I suppose you could try to hack it - I *think* it is just a text file. Of course, to do that you would need access to the Windows OS in Sea Ray Navigator which is something we typically do not provide (Sea Ray Navigator is installed as the system shell instead of Microsoft Explorer). If you're willing to assume your own risk and responsibility to operate the machine outside of the Sea Ray Navigator system shell (something that we, as a rule do not allow, encourage, or support) - you can call me (978-792-1050) to discuss this possibility.
