Over the last 5 years, Maptech has produced 3 basic models of its Navigation Computer, branded as "Sea Ray Navigator" or "i3 Touch Screen Command." Here is a breakdown of the "Type" of computer, based upon serial number.
Type I Navigation Computers are only branded under "Sea Ray Navigator." They are available as 10" and 12" displays. They can easily be identified by the orange message: "It will take up to 90 seconds to start" that appears during the power up process (as opposed to a Maptech logo that appears on a Type II or Model 300.)
Type I serial numbers appear as:
SRN.10.x.nnn (for 10" displays)
SRN.12.x.nnn (for 12" displays)
If x is less than 6, it indicates a very early model of the computer.
Type II Navigation Computers are branded under both Sea Ray Navigator and i3 Touch Screen Command. They are only available in 12" displays.
Type II serial numbers appear as:
SRN.12.21.nnn (for Sea Ray Navigators)
OEM.12.31.nnn (for i3 Touch Screen Commands)
Type IIb - a revised edition of the Type II was introduced in May 2006. Its serial numbers appear as:
SRN.12.22.nnn (for Sea Ray Navigators)
OEM.12.32.nnn (for i3 Touch Screen Commands)
Model 300 Navigation Computers are branded under both Sea Ray Navigator and i3 Touch Screen Command. They are available in 12" and 15" displays.
Model 300 serial numbers typically appear as:
SRN.12.61.nnn (for 12" Sea Ray Navigators)
OEM.12.71.nnn (for 12" i3 Touch Screen Commands)
SRN.15.42.nnn (for 15" Sea Ray Navigators)
OEM.15.52.nnn (for 15" i3 Touch Screen Commands)
There are some early Model 300 displays whose serial numbers may appear as:
